Today, March 15th, 2022, marks six months since Governor J.B. Pritzker signed the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) into Public Act – a landmark legislation that places Illinois on the path towards clean, renewable energy and a green economy. As Chair of the House Energy & Environment Committee, I convened a subject matter hearing on CEJA implementation to mark the celebratory occasion.
Since introducing the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act in March of 2019, our team of legislators, advocates, and grassroots organizers have tirelessly worked towards supporting and enacting legislation that would protect Illinoisans against the consequences of the climate crisis. By transitioning from a fossil fuel power generation to a renewable energy future, CEJA ensures that Illinois’ environment, workers, and communities are prioritized.
As implementation continues, I will update our community on the work being done to protect our environment and our people against the threat of climate change.
