Springfield, IL – Today was Clean Energy Lobby day in Springfield. Hundreds of environmental advocates descended on the Illinois Capitol to push for the passage of the Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA). Attendance broke records, making it the largest environmental lobby day yet. Representative Williams spoke with constituents in the Capitol rotunda as they advocated for CEJA.
The goals of the Clean Energy Jobs Act are comprehensive and expansive – a carbon-free future and the development of renewable energy resources, the creation of thousands of clean energy jobs, and a thriving green economy which is equitable and accessible to all Illinois communities. The abject and ongoing disregard for the future of our planet by the Trump administration means that states have a responsibility to take immediate action. The energy and enthusiasm of all advocates at the Capitol today helped deliver that message. This partnership between legislators and advocates will be the catalyst needed to protect our future.
