Rep. Williams Receives “A” Grade for Gun Violence Prevention

Representative Ann Williams received another “A” grade from the Gun Violence Prevention Action Committee for her work in the statehouse to prevent gun violence in Illinois. Long an advocate for safe neighborhoods and gun violence prevention, Rep. Williams consistently voted in the last session to pass bills that prevent gun violence and ensure the safety of our communities.

Karina’s Bill (HB 4144) was a high-profile legislative act that prevents people under domestic violence protection orders from purchasing firearms, protecting domestic violence victims from further harm and limiting the ability of abusers to access harmful weapons. The Safe Storage Act (SB0008) further ensured gun safety by requiring firearms to be stored in a locked container if minors, at risk individuals, or other prohibited persons could access these dangerous weapons. Rep. Williams voted in favor of these bills, as well as several other acts supported by gun violence prevention advocates. Ensuring that our children, families, and communities are kept safe from the terror of gun violence remains a priority for Rep. Williams. The full legislative report card can be viewed here.
