Representative Williams recently shared a list of highlights from the ongoing legislative session in Springfield. From environment to data privacy to safe roads, Rep. Williams has been hard work ensuring that the 11th District has a voice in our state legislature and that our government is serving our community most effectively. Here is the full list of highlights:
Protect Healthcare Data Privacy Act (HB3494): An initiative of ACLU Illinois, this bill requires companies that collect health data and/or offer health services to gain your consent, delete your data when asked to and tell you exactly how your data is used.
Thermal Energy Network and Jobs Act (HB3609): This bill promotes climate-friendly and high efficiency heating and cooling to entire neighborhoods by establishing Thermal Energy Networks pilot programs; limiting greenhouse gas emissions from buildings and lowering consumer costs through geothermal energy.
Increasing the Use of Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Devices (HB2658):
Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and Rep. Williams are partnering on legislation to increase the monitoring of drivers convicted of driving under the influence by expanding the use of Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Devices (BAIID). This bill is supported by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).
Workplace Transparency Act (HB3638): This bill expands and enhances the Workplace Transparency Act of 2019, and broadens protections against unlawful employment practices and discrimination.
Amendment to the Open Meetings Act (HB2582): This bill narrowly amends the Open Meetings Act, allowing Police District Councils to meet and plan for public events in a way which better serves our communities and promotes public safety.
Privacy Protections for Location Information Derived from Electronic Devices Act (HB3712): An initiative of Governor JB Pritzker, this bill provides that an entity may only collect an individual’s geolocation data for a limited, permissible purpose and provides for robust privacy protections across the board.
Clean and Reliable Grid Act (HB3779): This bill will ensure a clean, reliable and affordable electricity grid, expanding Illinois’ continued commitment to being an energy efficient state, lowering utility bills and continuing to build toward a carbon-free future.
