Representative Ann Williams recently joined CPS Board President Sean Harden and City Club of Chicago CEO Dan Gibbons for a panel discussion titled “From Appointment to Election: Navigating Chicago’s Historic Transition to a Fully Elected School Board.” As the Chicago School Board transitions from partially to fully elected, with the first fully elected school board to be voted on this November, Rep. Williams and President Harden shared insights from the current board and plans for navigating this historic transition. Rep. Williams explained the history of the elected board, noting that these elections will expand the role of the public in choosing their representatives on the Board. It was emphasized further that all Chicagoans should learn about the candidates who will be on the ballot in November for both the School Board and Board President, which will be elected for the first time.
