Rep. Williams Supports Diversey Community Coalition

Representative Ann Williams recently joined her elected colleagues, including State Senator Sara Feigenholtz and Alderman Timmy Knudsen, to support the Diversey Community Coalition, an organization formed in opposition to ComEd’s proposed substation development at Diversey and Seminary. The group met Saturday at the site of the proposed development, and called on ComEd to select a different location for its substation expansion. Instead, the group called for the site to be turned into a mixed-use development, combining housing and retail just steps away from the ADA-accessible Diversey Brown Line station.

Speaking at the site, Rep. Williams noted that “just because ComEd can build here, doesn’t mean that they should.” She encouraged residents in support of the DCC to submit a public comment to the Illinois Commerce Commission. After a glitch impacted the public comment system, she noted, it is especially important for residents to make their voices heard and submit comments.

Residents can get more information about the Diversey Community Coalition as well as instructions for submitting a public comment here. Rep. Williams’ joint statement with Senator Feigenholtz regarding issues with the public comment system can be found here.
